Otago vs Wellington In the middle match, Wellington Firebirds extended their unbeaten record in the Super Smash 2023-24 with a nine-wicket win against the Otago Vols in the seventh match at Molineux Park, Alexandra.
After winning the toss, Otago elected to bat. However, their decision backfired spectacularly as Nathan Smith and Logan van Beek annihilated the opposing batting lineup. Otago were bowled out for 47 runs in 12.4 overs, with no batter reaching double figures.
Smith took four wickets for Wellington, allowing only five runs in his four-over stint, which included a maiden. In 3.4 overs, Logan van Beek took three wickets for 19 runs. Peter Younghusband took two, with Ian McPeake taking the third.
Wellington responded by completing the chase in 4.3 overs despite losing Nick Greenwood for 10 runs. Tim Robinson (30*) and Nick Kelly (11*) were both undefeated.

Tim Robinson, the opening hitter for Wellington, maintained his lead in the run-scoring statistics with 169 runs in two innings. Doug Bracewell (95 points) and Jeet Raval (68 points) remain second and third, respectively.
Jake Gibson of Otago advanced from seventh to fifth place after scoring 59 runs in two innings with a fantastic strike rate of 170.59. Sixth and seventh place is held by Robert O’Donnell (54) and Dane Cleaver (53) respectively.
Martin Guptill (47), Tim Seifert (43) of the Knights, and Mitchell Hay (43) of Canterbury remain in eighth, ninth, and tenth place, respectively.

List of the Most Wickets in Super Smash 2023
Nathan Smith of the Otago Volts jumped from 12th to first in the wickets table, taking six wickets at an average of five. Jayden Lennox of the Central Stags fell one spot down to second place with six scalps at 8.83.
The Wellington leggie, Peter Younghusband, advanced from fifth to third place with five scalps. Scott Kuggeleijn (4) dropped from second to fourth place with a score of 9.25. Ian McPeake (4) moved up one spot to fifth place at 11.25.
James Neesham (3) dropped from third to sixth place with an 8.66. Danru Ferns (3) dropped from fourth to seventh place, averaging ten points. Logan van Beek (3) stormed from the bottom to eighth place with a time of 16.33 seconds. Ajaz Patel (3) and Blair Tickner (3) dropped two spots each to finish ninth and tenth, respectively, at 21 and 26.66.
