The Nintendo Switch, now in its fifth year, continues to deliver some of the best gaming experiences every year. This year was no different, with innovative indie games, long-awaited sequels to several popular Nintendo series, and some unexpected hits on the Switch. In general, in 2022, the Switch’s library gained some treasures that console owners should not miss.
Although certain Nintendo Switch games are already generating a lot of excitement for 2023, it is evident that 2022 set the standard. It is not yet clear, obviously, how one year from now looks at this, yet there are a lot of rivalries to be had. The following are the best Nintendo Switch games for 2022, in no particular order.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Legends of Pokemon: This year, Pokemon fans in Arceus were pleasantly surprised when Pokemon Legends: Arceus was made available in January. The first mainline game to break away from the formula of collecting Pokemon, challenging gyms, and becoming the region’s champion was this one.
Pokemon: Legends instead: Arceus gets some margin to the place that is known for Hisui (Sinnoh in the “present”). The player is tasked with assisting Professor Laventon in compiling the region’s first Pokedex by capturing creatures using the newly developed Pokeballs during this time period when Pokemon and humans live mostly apart.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Scarlet and Violet brought the Pokemon series into its ninth generation, bringing with it a significant overhaul of the world’s design and gameplay.
By providing players with the first truly open world in the franchise, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, follow in the footsteps of Pokemon Legends Arceus, emphasizing exploration. Following Victory Road, Path of Legends, and Starfall Street, players could explore the Paldea region in any order they chose.
Splatoon 3
Splatoon 3 With the release of Splatoon 3, Nintendo’s acclaimed turf-inking first-person shooter series got its third game this year. Splatoon 3, the second Splatoon game available for the Nintendo Switch, was a logical extension of everything that fans loved about the previous games.
Anarchy Battles became the new online competitive mode for Splatoon 3 in addition to the well-known Turf War mode from the series. Splatoon 2 brought back the popular Salmon Run PvE mode with new maps, bosses, and the chance to meet the super boss Cohozuna, the King Salmonid. Additionally, the Tableturf Battle card game was a surprise hit with players.
Triangle Strategy
Triangle Strategy puts players in the shoes of Serenoa, the heir to House Wolfforth, as he and his allies find themselves embroiled in a conflict between three of the most powerful nations in the region. The plot of the game can develop in a number of different ways depending on the choices that players make and their ability to persuade their allies to follow their preferred path.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 The world of Aionios was the setting for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, in which Agnus and Knives, two nations, are engaged in a never-ending struggle for the life force that powers their respective Flame Clocks.
After gaining the power of Ouroboros, a group of characters from both countries become outcasts and are controlled by the player.
Players embark on a mission in this adventure to free colonies from the Flame Clocks, learn the truth about Ouroboros, and learn more about the enigmatic Moebius.
