Soccer is the most popular sport in the country and is followed by millions of people. The love of the game has inspired many Polish citizens to pursue football as a profession. Some of them have even represented Poland’s national football team.
Poland has produced a few footballers who have left their names in the sport. They include their captain and all-time scorer, Robert Lewandowski and Wojciech Szczęsny.
10. Robert Lewandowski
Robert Lewandowski (born 21 August 1988) is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a striker for La Liga club Barcelona and captains the Poland national team. Recognised for his positioning, technique and finishing, Lewandowski is considered one of the best strikers of all time, as well as one of the most successful players in Bundesliga history.
He has scored over 500 senior career goals for club and country. In 2020, Lewandowski won the Best FIFA Men’s Player Award (retained in 2021) and the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Award. He has been named to the UEFA Team of the Year twice.
9. Wojciech Szczęsny
At the international level, Szczęsny has earned over 60 caps for Poland since his debut in 2009, and was included in the nation’s squad as it co-hosted UEFA Euro 2012, also later taking part at Euro 2016, the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2020.
8. Piotr Zieliński
Piotr Zieliński (born 20 May 1994) is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Serie A club Napoli and the Poland National Team. During his senior career he has also played for Udinese and Empoli. Zieliński was selected to represent Poland at UEFA Euro 2016 in France, as well as the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and the pan-European UEFA Euro 2020.
7. Łukasz Fabiański
A full international for Poland since 2006, Fabiański represented his country on 57 occasions. He was included in the squads for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euro 2008, Euro 2016, the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2020.

Krychowiak has earned over 90 caps for Poland since his international debut in 2008, and represented the nation at UEFA Euro 2016, the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2020.
3. Rafał Gikiewicz
Rafał Gikiewicz (born 26 October 1987) is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Bundesliga club FC Augsburg. In August 2010, he was loaned to OKS 1945 Olsztyn on a one-year deal. He returned to Jagiellonia Białystok half a year later.
2. Jan Bednarek
In 2013, Bednarek made his Ekstraklasa debut, at the age of 17 years old, for Lech Poznań against Piast Gliwice, in an eventual 2–0 win for the home side. The Polish under-21 international became an integral member of the squad, featuring 31 times and scoring once as Poznań narrowly missed out on the Polish Cup to Arka Gdynia 2–1 after extra time.
1. Łukasz Skorupski
Łukasz Skorupski (born 5 May 1991) is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Italian club Bologna. On 14 July 2013, Skorupski joined the Serie A giants A.S. Roma, signing a four-year contract. Skorupski made his debut for Roma in the 1–0 Coppa Italia victory over Sampdoria on 9 January 2014.
