Tennis is a very popular game over the years. Many countries watch this sport very excitedly. Tennis players are very famous and popular. Tennis players of India are also very famous and talented. Top 10 greatest female tennis players of all-time selected can be a difficult and subjective task. There have been so many great women players over the last 50 years of the Open Era, and this doesn’t even take into consideration the great players from the early 20th century. Changes in fitness regimes, nutrition, and racket technology over the years have only served to complicate an already difficult task.
As difficult as it was to choose the top 10 all-time greatest male tennis players, the women’s top 10 proved no easier. After pouring through countless statistical records and my own personal memory banks, I have come up with a list of the best female tennis players during the Open Era of tennis—from 1968 to the present. I have actually included 11 players here, with two greats tied for the 10th position. Here they are.

10. Martina Hingis and Evonne Goolagong
The pair have ended up joint on the list for 10th place, with Hingis retiring with five Grand Slam wins in 2017 after a career spanning over two decades, winning a total of 45 titles in the process.
Evonne Goolagong is often forgotten about, but she amassed 68 career titles including seven Grand Slams, however the US Open eluded her.
9. Justine Henin
Justine Henin was always seen as a powerful player, earning over $20 million during her career, however she couldn’t achieve success at the famous Wimbledon. She did however reach world number one in 2003.
8. Venus Williams
One half of the famous Williams sisters, Venus has been in her sister’s shadow for her career. Despite that, she has been one of the best, she has seven Grand Slam titles which could’ve been so much more had it not been for Serena. She managed to usurp her sister and become world number one in 2002.
7. Billie Jean King
The prolific Californian won 129 titles which included 12 Grand Slams, half of those coming at Wimbledon. Billie Jean King dominated women’s tennis for the best part of a decade.
6. Monica Seles
Monica Seles’ career was impacted when she was tragically stabbed on court as a fan ran on in 1993. She was never the same after the injury, but she still managed to win an impressive nine Grand Slam titles.
5. Chris Evert
There’s no doubting Chris Evert’s place on this list, she won 18 Grand Slams from reaching a record 34 finals. She also won every major at least twice to show us just how good she was.
4. Margaret Court
Margaret Court is deemed as the greatest women’s player of all time with a record 24 Grand Slams and 192 career titles, which includes 19 doubles and 19 mixed doubles triumphs.
3. Martina Navratilova
She holds the record for career titles in the Open Era with 167 and has 59 Grand Slam titles in total, which includes 18 singles crowns. She famously brought the big serve and volley back to the women’s game.
2. Steffi Graf
Steffi Graf’s 22 Grand Slam titles were evenly spread out across all surfaces, with four coming in Australia, six in France, seven in England and five in America. She amassed 107 career titles but just misses out on top spot in this list.
1. Serena Williams
Serena Williams is in most people’s books the greatest woman to ever grace the court, winning 23 Grand Slam titles and earning just short of $100 million in prize money. Her major wins have spanned the best time of two decades, proving how she’s stood the test of time.
