The goal was scored by the French international against Belgium in the 1938 FIFA World Cup in France. The match was won 3-1 by France at home.

This goal, the most recent in the total, was scored against Ghana in the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup. Dempsey’s goal gave the USA the lead in a Group G game by cutting through a defender. Dempsey set a record as the USA prevailed 2-1 in the game.
