In the opening match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023, the defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, acted like champions. In Match No. 1 at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Shaheen Shah Afridi’s team defeated Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans by one run on Monday, February 13.
The Qalandars posted a respectable score of 175 with the loss of six wickets when they batted first. After Sikandar Raza and Hussain Talat’s cameo got them past the 170-run mark, Fakhar Zaman and Mirza Baig’s 61-run stand set the tone.
As they needed 15 off the final over, the Sultans got awfully close to the goal. However, Zaman Khan’s stupendous bowling cost them victory. The Qalandars also moved to the top of the table with the victory, despite Khushdil Shah hitting fours off the final two balls.
