Ishan Kishan, a wicketkeeper and batsman, was recently withdrawn from India’s team for the forthcoming three-T20I series against Afghanistan.
The India team was published by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday, January 7, with the series beginning on January 11 in Mohali.
Kishan recently withdrew from the Indian team’s two-match Test series in South Africa. He has earlier warmed the bench in the three-match T20I series against South Africa.
Kishan last played a T20I in a home series against Australia following the ODI World Cup.
The wicketkeeper-batsman also played two World Cup matches and scored 47 runs. He was resting for the 50-over series in South Africa.

Aakash Chopra recently questioned the selection committee when Ishan Kishan was not included in India’s T20I team for the upcoming series against Afghanistan.
Aside from Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer were unable to get a spot in India’s T20I squad.
The three-match series will mark the return of India skipper Rohit Sharma and ace batsman Virat Kohli to the 20-over format.
The pair will play in the shortest format for the first time following the 2022 T20 World Cup.
The first T20I between India and Afghanistan will take held at Mohali on January 11.
The action will then transfer to Indore and Bengaluru for the following two T20Is, on January 14 and 17.
