The New York Knicks won 112-108 to end their three-game losing streak with a comeback performance that included RJ Barrett scoring 20 of his 30 points in the second half and Julius Randle scoring 33 points.
Julius Randle led the New York Knicks to a crucial victory over his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers, with 33 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Immanuel Quickley scored 15 points and RJ Barrett scored 20 in the second half to help the Knicks win the game.
Despite a late Lakers push, the Knicks prevailed 112-108, scoring eight points in a row down the stretch. The Lakers came within two points with 19.3 seconds remaining on Dennis Schröder’s layup, but Josh Hart won the game with two free throws.
The Knicks ended their three-game winning streak, while the Lakers ended their three-game losing streak after an impressive nine-game winning streak. Because of conflicting shooting, D’Angelo Russell, who drove the Lakers with 33 places and eight helps, missed 14 of 16 three-point endeavors.
The Knicks’ victory was even more impressive given that they were without their second-leading scorer, Jalen Brunson, who has been out with a bruised left foot. Brunson will “continue to do treatments and see where he is,” as stated by coach Tom Thibodeau. He did not specify when he would return.
Additionally, the Lakers were without LeBron James, who missed his seventh consecutive game due to a sore right foot. However, when he went back to the Lakers bench to watch, he didn’t have a walking boot on.
The Lakers, Knicks, and Portland teams should continue to win when they play New Orleans on Tuesday.
