Virat Kohli is widely regarded as an icon of the game and is arguably the greatest batter of this generation. He is known as a “run machine” because of his passion, determination, and talent, which have made him a special player for India.
Virat Kohli has set a number of records, including the fastest to 8,000, 9,000, 10,000, and 11,000 ODI runs. He has also set a number of other records, including the fastest to 11,000 ODI runs.
However, there have been times when things have been difficult for him, but he has persevered through the difficulties because of his drive to fight.
Here, we examine three centuries by Virat Kohli that have pleased his fans:
#3 116 vs. Australia
India’s tour of Australia in 2011-12 was a disaster for the team led by MS Dhoni, who lost by a score of 4-0. However, Virat Kohli, who was still a young player, finally demonstrated that he belonged at the Test level when he scored his first Test century against an inspired and enthusiastic Australian bowling attack.
While Kohli repaid MS Dhoni’s faith in him, none of the other Indian batsmen produced anything in the series. The right-hander made his maiden Test century and scored 116 runs, including 11 fours and a six, after a rocky start.
The right-hander has not looked back since that inning, which convinced him and the rest of the team to give him the long rope.
#2 122 vs. Afghanistan
In the Asia Cup Super-4 match against Afghanistan in Dubai last year, Virat Kohli scored his 71st international century. He finally scored a century in international cricket after a long wait of a thousand days with this.
This was Kohli’s third tournament fifty-plus score in a row, following scores of 59* against Hong Kong and 60 against Pakistan earlier. His final century came against Bangladesh in November 2019
Kohli ended with an unbeaten 122 runs off just 61 deliveries, hitting an impressive 12 fours and six massive sixes on the way to his century! His sensational innings relieved not only him but also his fans.
#1 186 vs. Australia
After a long wait of more than three years, Virat Kohli scored his first Test century in the fourth match of the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia. India took a 91-run lead over the visitors in the first innings thanks to Kohli’s impressive 186 and Shubman Gill’s 128 runs. In their first innings, Australia was bowled out for 480 runs.
Before off-spinner Todd Murphy took his wicket, the 34-year-old Kohli scored 186 runs off 364 balls with 15 fours. Both teams scored runs on a stunning batting display, resulting in a draw.
“I place more importance on the expectations I have for myself as a player. I don’t think I was able to play with the tempo and template I’ve used for the past ten years in Test cricket for a while. I was only attempting to accomplish that. Kohli claimed after receiving the player of the match award, “I felt like I was batting really well from the first innings in Nagpur.”
