On Thursday, April 20, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 24 runs in their most recent IPL match at Mohali. With this victory, RCB moved up to fifth place in the league, while PBKS fell to seventh place. Mohammed Siraj (4-0-21-4) was RCB’s star bowler, putting him at the top of the Purple Cap race thanks to his flawless bowling.
RCB batted first, and after 20 overs on a wicket with two paces, they reached a respectable total of 174/4. Virat Kohli (59 runs off 47 balls) and Faf du Plessis (84 runs off 56 balls) led the RCB batting effort with an opening stand of 137 runs.
However, the subsequent batters were unable to take advantage of the early momentum and did not produce the necessary fireworks in the end.
In answer, PBKS were looking horrendous so far as they were decreased to 43/4 in 5.3 overs. Jitesh Sharma (41 runs off 27 balls) and Prabhsimran Singh (46 runs off 30 balls) kept them in the game, but no other batter supported them. They were eventually dismissed for 150 in 18.2 overs.
Mohammed Siraj once more demonstrated his capabilities. We have an excellent opportunity to examine the top three innings that the Hyderabad-based pacer bowled in his IPL career thanks to his outstanding performance.
1) RCB vs KKR, IPL 2020 (4-2-8-3)
Mohammed Siraj’s performances for RCB had been widely mocked over the years, but this game marked the beginning of his rise.
By getting rid of players like Tom Banton, Nitish Rana, and Rahul Tripathi, Siraj broke the KKR batting order’s back. In his four innings, he gave up just eight runs at an astonishing economy rate of 2.00.
He also bowled two maidens, which is unusual in Twenty20 cricket. His spell assisted RCB with lessening KKR to 84/8 toward the finish of 20 overs.
2) RCB vs LSG, IPL 2023 (4-0-22-3)
Mohammed Siraj once more proved his worth for RCB earlier this season, albeit in defeat. Siraj emerged as RCB’s star on a day when both LSG and RCB conceded more than 210 runs.
LSG scored 213 runs in their 20 overs, demonstrating the struggle of all RCB bowlers. On a flat Chinnaswamy wicket, Siraj appeared to cause things to happen.
In his spell, he got the wickets of three top notch players, in particular KL Rahul, Nicholas Pooran, and Kyle Mayers. Through his efforts, RCB remained in the game until the final pass.
3) RCB vs PBKS, IPL 2023 (4-0-21-4)
In the most recent match, Mohammed Siraj won the Player of the Match award for his exceptional fast bowling spell.
Siraj let out fire as he bowled out four PBKS batters, including Liam Livingstone and Prabhsimran Singh, who was in good form. In the eighteenth over, Siraj got two wickets to end any possibilities of a PBKS win.
In his four overs, the Hyderabad-based seamer was simply unplayable, allowing just 21 runs at an economy rate of 5.25. He was also exceptional on the field when he hit Harpreet Singh Bhatia and killed him.
