According to Sky Sports: Liverpool has prioritized signing Jude Bellingham for the summer of 2019.
Since joining Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City in the summer of 2020, Jude Bellingham has established himself as one of the most talented midfielders in Europe.
He has scored 19 goals and provided 21 assists in 112 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions. He finished second in the Kopa Award 2021 final rankings and was named VDV Bundesliga Newcomer of the Season for 2020-21.
The 19-year-old midfielder’s performances for England at the FIFA World Cup have also impressed. In his four World Cup appearances, he has scored once and contributed once.
The Reds’ roster will benefit greatly from the addition of Jude Bellingham. However, Borussia Dortmund is likely to demand a substantial transfer fee in order to sell the England international, and Manchester City, Manchester United, and Real Madrid are also in the running to acquire him.
In light of this, let’s take a look at three other options for Jude Bellingham that Liverpool could sign next summer if they fail to sign the 19-year-old.
#1 Moises Caicedo
Since joining Brighton and Hove Albion from Independiente del Valle in the summer of 2021, Moises Caicedo has established himself as one of the most promising midfielders in the Premier League.
He has two goals and one assist in 22 Premier League games played for the Seagulls. The 21-year-old midfielder has impressed with his passing and tackling skills as well as his ability to evade the press from the opposition.
In his 22 league appearances, he has recorded 59 tackles, 138 recoveries, and 29 interceptions, according to the Premier League website. In addition, he is completing almost 54 passes per match this season in the English top division.
Florian Plettenberg claims that Liverpool wants to acquire the Ecuadorian international. However, given that the 21-year-old midfielder’s stellar performances at the FIFA World Cup 2022 for Ecuador have raised his value, Brighton is likely to demand a significant transfer fee in order to acquire him.
#2 Sofyan Amrabat
The performances of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat at the FIFA World Cup have attracted the attention of football fans all over the world. He has been instrumental in Morocco’s progress to the tournament’s quarterfinals.
The 26-year-old midfielder has impressed with his ability to cleanly strike the ball from a distance and his understanding of the game. Amrabat is also very good at getting possession back. He might serve the Reds in a capacity similar to that of Gini Wijnaldum, a former midfielder.
Sean Walsh claims that Liverpool is considering signing the Morocco international. However, they will have to compete with rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League to get his services.
#3 Enzo Fernandez
Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez is currently one of Europe’s most sought-after players. Throughout the FIFA World Cup, he has performed flawlessly in the middle of the field for Argentina. The 21-year-old midfielder has played in each of Argentina’s four games this tournament, assisting on one goal.
At 21, Fernandez is yet to enter the prime of his vocation. Under Jurgen Klopp, he has the potential to become a world-beater. Unless Benfica refuses to honor the €120 million release clause in his contract, Fernandez is likely to receive a lower transfer fee than Jude Bellingham.
However, Manchester United and Real Madrid are also keen on signing him. Jurgen Klopp will need to persuade him a lot to move to Anfield.
