Thomas Tuchel: Chelsea boss charged by FA for Anthony Taylor comments
Thomas Tuchel: Chelsea boss charged by FA for Anthony Taylor comments: The Football Association has brought a case of inappropriate conduct against the manager of Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel, in response to statements that Tuchel made concerning referee Anthony Taylor.
After the Blues’ encounter against Tottenham on August 14, which ended in a 2-2 draw, Tuchel stated that “maybe it would be best” if Taylor never referred to any match involving Chelsea again.
After an altercation during a handshake with the opposing team’s manager Antonio Conte, the German was given a fine of £35,000. He had his one-game suspension for the London derby postponed. It was an eventful day for the German.
FA
Tuchel has been accused for either insinuating bias, doubting the integrity of a referee, or bringing the game into disrepute, according to a spokeswoman for the FA, who has since confirmed that information.
According to the statement made by the spokesperson for the Football Association (FA), “Thomas Tuchel has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 in respect to statements that he made following Chelsea FC’s Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur FC on Sunday, August 14, 2022.”
“It is alleged that the manager’s comments in his post-match press conference constitute improper conduct because, contrary to FA Rule E3.1, they imply bias and/or doubt the reliability of the match referee and/or bring the game into disrepute. This allegation is contrary to the fact that the comments were made in his post-match press conference.
To respond to this accusation, Thomas Tuchel has until Thursday, August 25, 2022.
Tuchel later received some form of validation for his decision when it was revealed that a VAR official named Mike Dean had admitted that he should have told Taylor to check his pitch-side monitor for Cristian Romero’s hair pull on Marc Cucurella immediately before Harry Kane’s stoppage-time equaliser.
There was also a contentious moment before to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s goal, which tied the game at 1-1. Spurs player Richarlison stood in an offside position when the shot was taken, which prompted the referee to blow his whistle.
Statements
Tuchel stated the following after the match: “I cannot see how the first goal is not offside, and I cannot explain since when players can be pulled by their hair, stay on the pitch, and pull other people’s hair and assault the last corner, this is for me without any explanation.”
“I don’t want to accept it; I have no words for it; I’m furious what the explanation is for that, but both goals should not stand, and then it’s a fair result because we were brilliant and deserved to win, this is my point of view,” he said. “I don’t want to accept it; I have no words for it; I’m furious about the explanation for that.”
Additionally, he was questioned regarding whether or not Taylor should officiate another Chelsea game, to which he responded, “Maybe it would be better, maybe it would be better.”
“I don’t think that [only] some of the fans think that [he makes bad judgments against Chelsea], but I can guarantee you that the entire dressing room of us, every single person, does think that.
“Of course, the players are aware of what’s going on; after all, they’re the ones who are on the field, and they’re the ones who are experiencing it.
“Yeah, that makes perfect sense [that they are concerned when they see him].”
