Sourav Ganguly provided some wise observations about the performance of India’s top order hitters during the WTC Final.
On Day 3 of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final at The Oval on Friday, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly not only praised Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur for their resilient performances, but he also mocked the top-order batsmen.
India were all out for 296 in their most memorable innings however the two players scored half-hundreds of years to keep them in the game.
Ganguly said that they showed it to the changing area how to bat on a superficial level and this should be visible as a “message to the top request”.
“They hung it up in the locker room, saying you could score runs on this wicket if you worked hard and had a little luck.
Rahane did a great job, though. Shardul initially experienced beatings but persisted.
In the past, he has batted well for England and Australia. India’s comeback is strong. On Star Sports, Ganguly stated, “This is a message to the top order.”
On the third day of the World Test Championship final, Australia defeated India by 296 runs, reaching 123 for four at stumps in their second innings.
At stumps, Cameron Green and Marnus Labuschagne had batting averages of 41 and 7, respectively.
At The Oval, India avoided a follow-on after losing KS Bharat early on thanks to a seventh-wicket partnership of 109 runs between Ajinkya Rahane (89) and Shardul Thakur (51).
India picked up where they left off, with 151 for five.
However, India quickly lost the remaining wickets and reached 296 in 69.4 overs after the lunch break.
Australia’s captain Pat Cummins took three wickets, and Mitchell Starc, Scott Boland, and Cameron Green each took two wickets.
