Zaheer Khan discusses if Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube can be part of India’s T20I World Cup roster
Zaheer Khan believes Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube may be part of India’s T20i World Cup team if the think tank organizes correctly.
Hardik missed the recently finished T20I series against Afghanistan because he is still recovering from an ankle injury sustained during last year’s ODI World Cup.
Dube, the squad’s lone seam-bowling all-rounder, excelled with the bat and also bowled effectively.
During a Colors Cineplex conversation, Aakash Chopra questioned Zaheer if Hardik and Dube could make the India T20 World Cup team.
The former India bowler believes both seam-bowling all-rounders can only be included in the team if the Men in Blue have only one wicketkeeper.
Zaheer stated that the second wicketkeeper would have to accompany the squad in such a circumstance.
He went on to say that even if there is a minor niggle, the first wicketkeeper will have to withdraw from the competition.
“You need to have a player who can hit over the top and get a six anytime”
The cricketer-turned-commentator said that the Mumbai all-rounder’s big-hitting talent made him valuable in the middle overs.
Zaheer observed that Dube took use of his opportunities and gave the selectors a delightful headache.
However, he continued by stating that it is nearly difficult to foretell the ultimate decision on his spot in the team.
