Prithvi Shaw
Once again, the national selectors did not include opening batsman Prithvi Shaw in the rosters for the forthcoming one-day international and twenty20 international matches against Sri Lanka that will be played at home. On Tuesday, December 27, the BCCI made public the two teams that will be competing.
He has only participated in five Test matches, six One-Day Internationals, and one Twenty20 International, yet he has scored 339 runs in Tests at an average of 42.37 and 189 runs in ODIs at an average of 31.5. The last time Prithvi Shaw was on the national squad was in July, when they were touring Sri Lanka 2021. On his Twenty20 International debut, he was bowled out for a duck off the first delivery (the only T20I he played). In his six One-Day Internationals, he scored 189 runs, while in his five Tests, he scored 339 runs and had one century to his credit.
He was the second top run-getter in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022-23, scoring 332 runs while averaging 36.88 over the course of 10 games and having a strike rate of 181.42. In the Duleep Trophy, he came in third place with 315 runs, including 250 of his own, and was the third best run-getter overall. The opening batter had the greatest strike rate among players who scored more than 21 runs, which was 92.92 percent. This was the highest in the tournament.
Manish Pandey.
Manish Pandey not only struck a century at Centurion during the 2009 Indian Premier League but also contributed to India’s victory in a one-day international match that was played in Australia in 2016. The match was won by India. Since that time, Manish Pandey’s career has been a roller coaster ride; as a result of his lack of reliability, he has been in and out of the national team.
Manish Pandey has participated in 29 one-day internationals and 39 twenty20 internationals. In the short overs forms, he has scored 566 ODI runs and 709 T20I runs, averaging 33.29 and 44.31 respectively. Even though he made his debut in 2015 against Zimbabwe, he hasn’t been given opportunities too much after then. His last One-Day International match was in 2021 against Sri Lanka, while his final Twenty-First Century International match was in 2020 against Australia. The new selection committee could be able to give him a fresh start in his career.
Shivam Dube
On November 3, 2019, Shivam Dube made his debut for India in a Twenty20 International against Bangladesh. The series earned him a comparison to Yuvraj Singh, but as of right now, the cricket commentators consider it a complete failure to make.
Shivam Dube has only played in one One-Day International and thirteen Twenty20 Internationals. He has a batting average of less than 20 in all forms and has only taken five wickets while averaging over 40 with the ball in T20Is. He only participated in one one-day international (ODI), which took place in December 2019 against West Indies, and his most recent twenty-minute international was in February 2020 against New Zealand.
Rahul Tewatia
At the Indian Premier League 2022 Mega Auction, the Gujarat Titans spent INR 9 crore for all-rounder and hard-hitting finisher Rahul Tewatia. The Gujarat Titans acquired Tewatia. He participated in 16 matches in the IPL 2022 but did not take a single wicket, scoring 217 runs with an average of 31 and a strike rate of 147.62.
Prior to the start of the Indian Premier League in 2020, Rahul Tewatia was moved from the Delhi Capitals to the Rajasthan Royals. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rahul Tewatia made his debut with RR in 2014 and is credited for lighting the stage ablaze for RR in IPL 2020. In the Indian Premier League in 2020, the left-handed batter finished with 255 runs, which included a remarkable 31-ball 53-run blitz in which he struck five sixes in an over. He also took 10 wickets.
Rishi Dhawan
The speed all-rounder Rishi Dhawan has previously competed for both the Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings (IPL 2014-16 and IPL 2022). Along with capturing 22 wickets at an average of 31.23, he has scored 169 runs for PBKS while averaging 28.17 and has done so in 26 matches. He has finished with 190 runs scored and 24 wickets taken overall.
Rishi Dhawan has only participated in three one-day internationals and one twenty20 international, but he has already established himself as a formidable opponent in local cricket. However, he has not yet found success on the international stage. The year 2016 was his last appearance for India.
It was under his leadership that Himachal Pradesh won the Vijay Hazare 2021-22 tournament for the very first time. Rishi Dhawan was the team’s leader in both the number of wickets he took and the number of runs he scored. Rishi Dhawan broke a record when he became the first player in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy to finish among the top five players in both the run-scoring and wicket-taking categories within the same season.
The all-rounder ended the season as the second-highest run-getter with 458 runs, and he also finished as the second-highest wicket-taker with 17 in a total of eight matches. Both of these accomplishments placed him in second place. The new selection committee could be able to give him a fresh start in his career.
