The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) and Delhi Capitals (DC), an IPL team, are planning to work together to upgrade and maintain the Arun Jaitley Stadium’s. The location serves as the franchise’s home stadium for both the IPL and the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
This is the first time a team has assumed responsibility for venue upkeep during non-IPL seasons. Prior to the 2023 ODI World Cup, the Arun Jaitley Stadium has already been allocated money totaling 50 crore for reconstruction. The Delhi Capitals will also contribute an extra 75 crore toward the stadium’s rehabilitation.
Parth Jindal, a co-owner of DC, and Rohan Jaitley, president of the DDCA, are said to have spoken about the agreement, with a focus on enhancing the overall crowd experience.
The Times of India was told by a source:
The installation of two upscale hospitality boxes in the stadium has been discussed. The plan is to install temporary boxes before to the World Cup and complete the installation prior to the following IPL. Regarding the atmosphere in the stands during games, the stadium has received numerous complaints. That is a top priority for DDCA and Capitals.
Added the source:
“Corporations manage football stadiums in Europe to maintain amenities for their club teams. This action will be taken in that general direction. The stadium will now be required by the Capitals for more than just the two months of the IPL because the Women’s Premier League will now be contested in the home-and-away format.”
A total of five games of the 2023 ODI World Cup will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. On October 11, the location will host India’s league-stage match against Afghanistan.
