The Ultimate Fantasy Football Players For 2022
The Ultimate Fantasy Football Players For 2022: These are the players I believe to be notable in 2022 fantasy football drafts. I have grouped them by position and paraphrased each short explanation. You don’t need 500 words per player; we live in a TL;DR world. Please stay with us and come to the chorus.
Quarterback is the most valuable position in sports, so you should draft someone around a range of results that includes a good fantasy performance. But who cares what happens on the field with your quarterback? Focus more on value, and use your talent elsewhere!
I’ve taken a few risks on quarterbacks when others are wary. The Chargers have difference makers like Joey Bosa, Melvin Ingram, and Derwin James. Russell Wilson is risky but has upside at the perfect time. Remember Tom Brady’s peak output in Tampa Bay in 2020? Wilson can be similar.
Fantasy players who value short-term and upside in their quarterback positions should take a look at Derek Carr and Kirk Cousins. Jared Goff is great for Superflex leagues where you need a player with high upside who will likely be on the field in a lot of different offenses.
As the quarterback position is such an important part of fantasy football, so many options to choose from, choosing among them can be a challenge. There are some notable options that I’m unlikely to draft in my superflex drafts: Josh Allen at too expensive of a price point, Aaron Rodgers with no downfield help on the horizon and Trey Lance because others will pay for him as if he’s a certain thing.
Aaron Jones is a second-round pick, who could be utilized as the primary back in Green Bay. He received both floor and upside for their offense, with them likely creating an “all-star” back.
The Broncos might not hand Melvin Gordon as many carries. However, he is seven years younger than Javonte Williams. He deserves the title of a potential league winner because of his age and talent. The term “league winner” has been overused, but calling him a possible league winner due to his age and skill would be appropriate.
Speed lap: I trust Cam Akers to punt returning because he doesn’t have the same overwhelming speed of other players and Ken Walker was coming off surgery. Rashaad Penny had a wild down the stretch last year and Kyle Shanahan looks for running backs with a speculative streak in that locker room. Jeff Wilson is solid, but several other candidates are there, too. The price might continue to rise and this makes it difficult to project Dameon Pierce as an EDGE or DT as his competition is mild and the Houston line isn’t bad.
With a deep talent pool at wide receiver, there’s plenty to choose from. My most popular draft is likely one running back with three wide receivers in the top 20. I like picking up Taylor, Cooper Cupp (I’m not worried about Matthew Stafford), Justin Jefferson (he could be on all the news covers next year) or Ja’Marr Chase. All of those guys are fun options and it’s less likely receivers will get injured than running backs – although I still wouldn’t select them ahead of David Johnson in this scenario.
In all of the Week 1 NFL matchups, Derek Carr and the Raiders have a chance to really take off in Vegas against Atlanta, who will have to replace Aaron Rodgers this week. CeeDee Lamb should be heavily targeted in Dallas, and Dak Prescott has a lot of upside as well. Mike Evans is one of Brady’s favorite receivers so we’re not going to see an end zone change anytime soon.
Michael Pittman is the second New York Giants player to have his season end due to injury. The second paragraph starts with “His career has a neat starting arc, like an airplane.” In the third paragraph, DJ Moore’s bad luck with touchdowns continues, but the last paragraph shifts your focus onto Baker Mayfield and Mike Williams who have better ADP than Moore.
If Adam Thielen and Darnell Mooney are safe veterans, then Hunter Renfrow is a bland but serviceable weapon in Josh McDaniel’s offense. Christian Church was an undrafted free agent who showed real potential as Jacksonville’s top overall player in the preseason. Brandon Ayyukitis set the second half of his touchdown receptions against Deebo Samuel while Aiyuk is more likely to pay off his ADP given his NFL upside. Nico Collins looks to be Houston’s No. 2 receiver, which is a good matchup for Davis Mills, and Jared Goff should still be able to produce an adequate Fantasy output despite never being known as a great quarterback.
I’m still holding tight ends of the vanity, even though it hurts to look at Kyle Pitts on someone else’s list. I am open to trading in the next tier, where Dalton Schultz has a secure role without an X on his back (thanks to CeeDee Lamb, breakout stud)
Dawson Knox can master all three levels of the game and fits seamlessly with the Buffalo offense. Cole Kmet was comically touchdown-unlucky last season, but his bogarting Jimmy Graham is gone, and Justin Fields may be ready to take a leap. If you want a boring 70 catches, Austin Hooper can reprise his Atlanta role for the Titans and should fit in nicely with Ryan Tannehill.
Focus on games early in the season: People don’t come here to talk about summer, but I have a short hack for you. I like to look at the schedule and see if there are any easy matches that can be skipped during the critical stages of the season. The Broncos (at Seahawks, Texans) and Colts (at Texans, at Jaguars) both have an easy schedule.
