Elye Wahi, a target for Arsenal, has been offered €30 million by Montpellier SC manager Michel Der Zakarian. This season, the 20-year-old striker has performed admirably, drawing interest from top European teams. Wahi has assisted on one goal and scored 12 goals in 24 Ligue 1 matches this season.
Instead of fighting relegation, he has helped the French club stay in the middle of the table. Arsenal sees the striker, who became the second teen to score 20 goals in Ligue 1, as a possible replacement for Gabriel Jesus. France Bleu was told by Der Zakarian:
“The 20-year-old kid has a lot of potentials. That is expensive. As far as I might be concerned, [he’s worth a] least €25-30m. England can purchase him when you see the TV rights over there. They can do it more easily. He wants to run much more, forever be moving, and be in a situation to rehash his endeavors. He’s a sprinter, so he moves quickly, but sometimes after 45 minutes he’s exhausted.”
Added: “He needs to work a little bit better; that’s daily training. He must put in a lot of effort if he wants to play in a big club with great players. He has tremendous potential at an extremely high level. If you want to score goals as he does, you need to shoot from behind the net.
He does a good job for his age, but I believe he could do even better. After 28 games, Montpellier is 11th in the table with 36 points.
Why is Gabriel Jesus being replaced by Arsenal :
In January, Arsenal was looking for a striker and was linked to a number of players. However, Mikael Silvestre, a former Arsenal defender, advised them to trust Eddie Nketiah. He explained to Betting Expert:
“Eddie Nketiah has the potential to reach a very high level, and I think they should stick with their current squad.” Even though he isn’t quite there yet, this is his chance to seize the opportunity. He must seize this opportunity and score goals.”
One of the priorities in the summer transfer window for Arsenal is reportedly to add more firepower to their attack. Jesus is back from his injury, but when the season ends, Mikel Arteta won’t sign a natural number nine.
