India will submit a proposal to host the 2036 Olympics, according to Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, and a schedule for it would be unveiled at the Mumbai meeting of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) the following year. Thakur claims that Ahmedabad is a strong contender to host a multi-sport extravaganza and that this is the ideal moment to propose such an event.
The Roadmap for India’s Olympic bid in 2036 will be unveiled the following year. Anurag Thakur, Minister of Sports
“If India can successfully host the G20 Presidency in such a significant scale, I am confident that the government will be able to contribute to hosting the Olympics in the nation in addition to the IOA. We are all aware that the spots are reserved till 2032. However, we have optimism for the future, and I am confident that India will thoroughly prepare and submit a bid for the Olympics,” Thakur told the Times of India.
“Yes, India is prepared to make a winning offer. There is no justification for us to refuse. If India is working so hard to develop sports, we will not only host the Olympics, but we will host it in a tremendous fashion, I can guarantee you. The moment is ideal to hold the Games now. Why not the world of sports if India is generating headlines in every industry, from manufacturing to services? India is seriously considering submitting a proposal for the 2036 Olympics, the speaker claimed.
The next three Summer Games will be held in Brisbane, Los Angeles, and Paris, respectively.
“Yes, by then we can provide the IOC members the blueprint” (September 2023). The IOC Session is a major event for India, and the government would support whatever actions are necessary to bid with the IOA. It must be prepared together, Thakur said.
If India’s candidacy is accepted, it would join China, South Korea, and Japan as the only other Asian nations to host the Olympics.
Indonesia, South Korea, and Qatar are among the other countries that have declared their desire to submit bids.
The Commonwealth Games were previously held in India in 2010, however the occasion was tarnished by significant allegations of fraud and poor organization.
