There has been no talk about the Brooklyn Nets since they were eliminated from the playoffs.
Unless the New York Knicks are even worse off, or before a trade demand was made.
They’ve been getting better over the past few weeks, and now they’re making a comeback and becoming important in the Eastern Conference.
However, Kevin Durant is aware of how little attention his team has received.
According to Durant’s remarks to Yahoo Sports,
“I get that other people don’t look at our roster as a championship roster, but when we get wins the way we get wins, you gotta pay attention to that.”
Whenever Kai [Kyrie Irving] and Ben [Simmons] didn’t play, we beat groups by [nearly] 40 focuses. Hold on, what are they doing over there, any other team?
They overlook us, particularly Kai and I. To be impressed, we must leap through a fire Hula-Hoop.
Durant says that the culture in New York is generally negative, so he kind of expects it.
Is the word “embellish” appropriate?
Durant stated, “You do that because it’s New York City.”
The fans in New York City are fed negative s*** by the media as a whole.
They just accept the drama because they’ve grown accustomed to teams not performing well over time.
As a result, experiencing drama is normal.
In sports, that has been New York culture for the past fifty years.
The NBA’s culture has always been that way in New York, but I think it’s starting to change now.
Before selecting the Nets in the summer of 2019, Durant was aware that it is a little heavier in New York.
Irving has always been a target for criticism because, at times, he appears to invite and incite it.
But Durant has been playing at an MVP level all season, and Irving has been productive since returning from his suspension for promoting an antisemitic film and making comments about it.
The Nets have come back from the ashes of a coaching change and an Irving-fueled controversy to climb to fourth place in the East.
They have won 10 of their last 11 games and only lost to the Celtics on December 4 to keep them from having the longest winning streak in the NBA.
It’s possible that the coaching transition from Steve Nash to Jacque Vaughn has made things simpler.
Due to the fact that most of the games have been played at home and against teams that aren’t particularly good, it could also be a result of the schedule.
“On both ends, we know what we’re doing.
When asked what is working, Durant stated, “It’s that simple.”
We know which offense we want to run and which defense we want to play.
And all of that just makes everyone feel more at ease.
And we work. So anything comes from that, we acknowledge.
