Luka Sucic, a Red Bull Salzburg midfielder, is reportedly wanted by Liverpool in an £18 million permanent move before the start of the following season. Over the past two seasons, the 20-year-old Sucic has established himself as a crucial first-team starter for Salzburg.
He helped his team win two consecutive Austrian Bundesliga titles and two consecutive OFB Cup trophies since he joined from Liefering in 2020 for approximately £600,000. Due to the apparent similarity in his playing style, the Croatian star, who has won four caps, has been dubbed the “new Luka Modric.” He is a left-footed playmaker with the ability to pass and shoot.
Additionally, he was included in Croatia’s 26-man roster for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where his team finished third, a record for the tournament. ECHO claims that Liverpool has made Sucic one of their top midfield targets for the upcoming summer transfer window.
The club wants to take him for £18 million and use his release clause. Sucic was questioned about a possible move to the Premier League during an interview with Croatian media outlet Sportske Novosti. He replied,
“All I can tell you about it is that I’ve read some of those stories. We’ll wait and see what turns out to be best for my career when the time comes. It is my responsibility to perform to the best of my ability for both my club and my national team before the transfer occurs on its own.
In 96 games for Salzburg, Sucic has scored 13 goals and 10 assists. His contract at the Red Bull Arena runs through June 2025.
It is urged that Liverpool acquire the midfielder :
Frank McAvennie, a former Celtic star, told Football Insider that new summer signings could make it easier for Fabinho to leave. He said more: “It is dependent on who enters. [ Jordan] Henderson and Fabinho are not getting any younger.
They are going to miss Thiago [Alcantara] because he is such a great talent and a better player than Henderson. While Henderson will continue to serve Liverpool admirably, he will no longer be able to play every game as before.
McAvennie added, urging Liverpool to let go of the 29-year-old midfielder: “I don’t know if they will try to get money for Fabinho or if they will keep him. I would trade him in. They need to shake up their midfield.” In 206 appearances for Anfield, Fabinho has scored 11 goals and provided eight assists. His contract runs through June 2026.
