The mayor of Oklahoma City is pleased with Chet Holmgren’s NBA summer league debut
The mayor of Oklahoma City is pleased with Chet Holmgren’s NBA summer league debut. Chet Holmgren played for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA summer league on Tuesday night. The Thunder picked Holmgren with the second overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft, which took place less than two weeks ago. His size and skill set made him a top-two pick, and a well-known person in Oklahoma is interested in him.
Holmgren scored 13 points in the first quarter of his first summer league game, showing that he could score both inside and outside. His 13 points were more than the whole Jazz team scored in the first quarter. He also blocked three shots, including one by Tacko Fall, a 7-foot center. David Holt, who is the mayor of Oklahoma City, has seen Holmgren play, and he is ready to clear his schedule to see the Gonzaga grad play in the NBA.
Even though it’s still the summer league and Holmgren’s first minutes in the NBA, Holt seems to have good reason to be excited. Holmgren was one of the best prospects going into the draft. Because of his unique skills, he was called a “unicorn.” If Holmgren’s future is anything like how Tuesday night went, Holt should feel good about the Thunder for the next few years.
