At the end of the season, Liverpool is expecting Roberto Firmino to leave. Since joining the Reds in 2015, the forward from Brazil has been a pillar-like presence in the attack. Firmino has scored 108 goals and assisted 79 others in 354 games played for the Anfield club in all competitions. He has also scored this season, scoring ten goals and assisting five others in 27 games.
Fans have expressed their sadness over his departure from the club. However, Firmino has not yet decided on his next team. Robert Wittman, the player’s agent, told Calciomercato (via Liverpool Echo):
“At the moment, I am not discussing the available options; Roberto is completely focused on completing the season and supporting Liverpool in their pursuit of Champions League qualification. This is the plan. Roberto and his family will begin contemplating their next challenge once the club achieves its objectives.”
With the Reds, Firmino has won seven trophies, including one UEFA Champions League and one Premier League trophy. The Reds’ attack has been reenergized by Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo’s arrival, but Firmino is still a huge piece of Jurgen Klopp’s puzzle.
Kenny Daglish, a legend at Liverpool, commends Mohamed Salah:
After surpassing Robbi Fowler’s record, Mohamed Salah became Liverpool’s all-time leading scorer in the Premier League. For the Reds, Salah has scored 129 league goals.
According to the Reds’ website, Reds legend Kenny Daglish said about Salah’s milestone:
“No individual’s accomplishment should ever be discounted or overlooked. He has accomplished this remarkable feat in a much shorter amount of time than perhaps Robbie did. The most important thing is that while individual awards are fantastic, team awards are unrivaled. Inside the progress of the group, there’s generally people [who] make commitments.”
He proceeded:
“Alisson saving another goal at the other end of the defender kicking one off the line is just as important as a goal at one end. Therefore, each individual has a role to play. You won’t be successful just by scoring goals if everyone contributes to the team’s success. However, you must also be successful at blocking goals. However, it’s fantastic for Mo because he has been such a loyal supporter of the club.”
With 42 points in 25 games, Liverpool is fifth in the Premier League. On Saturday, March 11, they will play again at Bournemouth.
