India and Sri Lanka
The first one-day international match of 2023 will be between India and Sri Lanka, and it will take place in the second part of this year. India’s journey to the World Cup will officially get underway after this encounter. Even though both teams are eager to get off to a winning start, will the weather wind up being a factor that makes it difficult for either team to do so?
When India plays Sri Lanka in their first 50-over assignment of the year, they will be set to launch their campaign for the ODI World Cup 2023. Sri Lanka will be their first opponent. They will be fighting against the squad from Sri Lanka, who were the winners of the Asian tournament the previous year. The Twenty20 International match was a lot of fun for both teams, and owing to some incredible hitting from Suryakumar Yadav in Rajkot, the home team was able to win the series and take a 2-1 lead.
The game will now switch to a format with 50 overs, and India will be glad to have some of their most famous players back in their lineup for this round of the competition. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) came to the conclusion that it would be best to keep Jasprit Bumrah out of the one-day international series. As a direct consequence of this development, the three players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul have all made their way back into the starting lineup. However, Jasprit Bumrah will have to remain on the sidelines for a little while longer before he can make his way back onto the field.
