The Country Dominican Republic shone in the Bolivarian Games baseball and softball competitions. The Bolivarian Games 2022 originally called Juegos Bolivarianos in Spanish, is the XIX Bolivarian Games hosted in Valledupar, Colombia. It is a multi-sport event of international nature and it consists of multiple sports which were held from June 24 to July 5 this year. It was the fifth time that this tournament was hosted in Colombia.

ODEBO Nations – Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela
Invited Nations – El Salvador, Guatemala, Paraguay, and the Dominican Republic
The Baseball and Softball Teams of the Dominican Republic played well in the Bolivarian Games in Colombia.
The Tricolour country bagged the gold medals in the baseball and softball games at the XIX Bolivarian Games. Colombia earned the silver medal in both events, while Venezuela (baseball) and Peru (softball) were in the third position respectively.
The Dominican team wins gold in baseball at the Bolivarian Games
Their National baseball team shone this Monday by defeating the host Colombia at the Erasmo Camacho stadium.
In the baseball game, No. 7 they (5-1) acquired the gold medal on the 4th of July, defeating host Colombia, 6-2, and saved for themselves the top place in the podium standings.
No. 11 Colombia and No. 6 Venezuela competed and the game ended in a draw with an even record of 3-3, but the host team, Colombia earned the silver medal through the tie-breaker game. Peru (1-5) got the position of fourth.

The women’s team won gold in the Softball – Bolivarian games
Softball competitions at the 2022 Bolivarian Games were held from 25 to 30 June 2022 at the Estadio Dorismel Pacheco Fontalvo.
A grand total of 105 athletes (15 per team) participated and competed in the games in this only women’s tournament. The tournament had no age restrictions.
The tricolor team won the gold medal last Thursday by defeating Colombia in the finals with a slate of 12 runs by 3 and earned the gold medal in the contest. No. 22 Peru bagged the bronze medal. They were rewarded with backpacks and other minor prizes during breakfast in the dining room resided by engineer Garibaldi Bautista.
He exclaimed and emphasized that this was the best performance of the Softball Team since the gold medal he won in the year 2014 at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico.

Dominican athletes in total won 72 medals, including 19 gold in the recently concluded Bolivarian Games in Valledupar, Colombia. In the year 2017, when the games were held, the team won 68 medals. There was a rise in the graph when this year 4 medals were added to the sports history of the country.
The sports in which the country won gold were track and field, boxing, judo, karate, swimming, table tennis, horse riding, softball, gymnastics, skeet, and water skiing.
