With the addition of former Juventus attacker Paulo Dybala to their roster, José Mourinho and Conference League champion Roma are raising the bar on their goals. Check out complete details about it below.
The acquisition of Dybala raises Roma’s aspirations
The 28-year-old Argentina international signed a three-year contract with Roma on Wednesday, the capital club announcing the deal three weeks after his Juventus contract came to an end.
Following Nemanja Matic, whose contract at Manchester United also ended, Dybala is Roma’s second well-known acquisition during the summer season.
In seven seasons with Juventus, Dybala scored 115 goals in all competitions, leading the Bianconeri to 12 victories, including five Serie A titles. However, following the Turin club’s January acquisition of Duan Vlahovic, the frequently injured striker lost Massimiliano Allegri’s favour.
Besides his prowess at free kicks, penalties, and scoring from distance, Dybala is able to play a variety of offensive positions. He will likely join Lorenzo Pellegrini and Tammy Abraham in the attack by Roma, and his entry might open the door for Nicol Zaniolo to depart the Giallorossi in a potentially profitable sale.
Roma, which will also participate in the Europa League this season, won the Europa Conference League title in its debut campaign under Mourinho. Roma will be aiming for a top-four finish and a Champions League position this season.
In Serie A last year, Roma came in sixth place. Also allegedly interested in signing Dybala were Inter Milan and Napoli.
As an adversary, Dybala stated, “I’ve always liked the energy the Roma fans brought to the stadium.” I’m eager to salute them while donning this shirt, and I can’t wait until then.
Roma will play Salernitana on August 14 to kick off the season before traveling to Juventus, who Dybala formerly played for.
