The Independence Day festivities in the State this week were marked with patriotism. The Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao raised the flag in front of the historic Golconda Fort on Monday. His Cabinet colleagues did the honors in cities and districts assigned to them. Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, who also holds the position of Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, raised the country’s flag with a ceremony at Raj Nivas, Puducherry, but flew back to host a traditional “At-Home.”
Sri Somesh Kumar, Secretary of Protocol in the Government of Telangana hoisted the state flag at BRK Bhavan with several other government officials. He also assigned districts to Ministers for flags to be raised. The list is as follows: Sangareddy, Medaka, Siddipet, Jangaon, Mahbubnagar, Karimnagar, Nirmal and Nizamabad.
An assembly speaker and the legislative council chairman each participated in a rally at the Indira Gandhi Stadium and Parade Ground, respectively.
Elsewhere, the general manager of South Central Railway Arun Kumar Jain hoisted the flag at Railway Sports Complex ground in Secunderabad while chairman of Defence Research and Development Organization G. Satheesh Reddy took part at Research Centre Imarat here.
The director-general of MCR HRD Institute, Benhur Mahesh Dutt Ekka was present on the institute campus. After unfurling the tricolour at the corporation headquarters, the chairman of Telangana Transmission and Generation Corporations, D. Prabhakar Rao, said that the power utilities were prepared to supply bulk electricity for electric vehicles. The consumption of power went up by almost 2x on average per person in the state, from 1,196 units in 2014 to 2,012 units
New Delhi’s state representative, Manda Jagannatham and Resident Commissioner at the Telangana Bhavan, Gaurav Uppal attended the flag-hoisting ceremony.
Patriotic zeal and gaiety were seen on the streets with many businesses giving out discounts to celebrate Independence Day.
Sumit Deb, the CEO of NMDC, unfurled the Indian flag in front of work colleagues at the head office. Talking about the celebrations on Independence Day, he noted, ‘NMDC has consistently dedicated itself to meet India’s infrastructure needs’ and ‘we should all celebrate by wholeheartedly participating in Har Ghar Tiranga’.
Winners of chess, painting and indoor games competitions were honored. These competitions had been organized as part of the mahotsav which NMDC had hosted.
Divisional Office campus of LIC in Saifabad hoisted a tricolour by Zonal Manager M.Jagannath. With the Har Ghar Tiranga call, LIC made available national flags to all employees, agents, and customers at all locations. The spirit of the celebration is to collectively participate and strengthen the country for the benefit of everyone, said Zonal Manager M.Jagannath.
CGM Amit Jhingran at the Koti office of State Bank of India emblazoned their flag and commemorated the life that these freedom fighters gave to us.
