Singapore has previously defeated Malaysia in both games, most recently in the 2020 ACC Eastern Region T20 match.
Malaysia is relatively inexperienced and hopes to learn a lot from the series. The squad has lost four of its past five games and is currently ranked 31st in the ICC T20 teams rankings. Singapore and Malaysia have previously played two T20 games. Singapore was dominant in both games.
