Tajh Boyd’s death is unknown, as no official cause of death was given at the time of the release. In the 2023 recruiting class, the offensive lineman signed with the Flames as a three-star prospect. In less than a month, he would start his first season.
What were the final words of Tajh Boyd’s high school coach?
In Chesapeake, Virginia, Tajh Boyd participated in high school football with the Oscar Smith Tigers. Boyd was Virginia’s top prospect in the state of 2023, coming in at number 18. During his sophomore and junior years, he contributed to the Tigers’ back-to-back state championship victories. Last season, they had a 9-2 record.
Coach Chris Scott of Oscar Smith spoke with The Virginian-Pilot about Boyd’s passing and said:
“Tajh’s influence extended far beyond numbers and honors. He was a powerful force on the football pitch, but what really made him larger than life was his contagious smile, his upbeat attitude, and his capacity to inspire people.
As a true freshman, Tajh Boyd wasn’t anticipated to make his debut. He was thought of as the offensive line’s long-term starter for the Liberty Flames, though. Over offers from the Jackson State Tigers, Maryland Terrapins, Morgan State Bears, and Pittsburgh Panthers, he chose to enroll with the Flames.
Before the start of his senior year of high school, Boyd made his decision to attend Liberty officially. He was only 19 years old when he passed away.
