On 24 October, it was all set for South Africa to face off against Zimbabwe in ICC MEN’S CRICKET WORLD CUP 2022. But unfortunately, the rain play spoils the game. South Africa’s match against Zimbabwe was washed out at Hobart on Monday.
Up to now, the match has been called off multiple times due to rain. Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to bat first. After the rain, the match is reduced to nine overs a side. At the start of the innings, the openers lost their wickets early. Wessely Madhevere (35 not out) and Milton Shumba(18) gave them a respectable score for South Africa to chase. Zimbabwe posted 79 runs on the scoreboard.
On the other hand in the second inning, South Africa opener Quinton de Kock contributed to south Africa’s chase superbly. South Africa reached a total score of 51 without losing a wicket. In the very first over De Kock smashed 23 runs. And hitting a total of 47 runs on 18 deliveries. After a short break, the rain relented as a result two overs were lost. South Africa needs 64 runs in 7 overs. The Proteas were 51 for no loss in three overs before rain spoiled their happiness.
