According to Sushma Verma, the Gujarat Giants’ expensive foreign players must perform if they are to help the team win the WPL in 2024.
The Giants are the only team without a win this season and are now ranked last in the points standings. On Friday, March 1, they take on the UP Warriorz in Bengaluru for their third game.
According to Verma, on Sports 18, the Gujarat Giants need players like Ashleigh Gardner, Phoebe Litchfield, and Beth Mooney to perform well:
“Now is the moment; although you seem fine on paper, you need to show it on stage. Since you have to give your bowlers a total to defend, I’ll suggest the batting performance. The hitters still need to score runs, even when your defense is fine and the bowlers are still doing well”

“Beth Mooney, Ash Gardner, and Phoebe Litchfield—the person she is bringing—haven’t done any actions for which they are renowned. The former Giants batsman and wicketkeeper stated, “Only your bowlers will be able to accomplish anything when the three costly overseas players have to produce.
In four innings, Mooney and Litchfield have combined for 44 runs at respective dismissal averages of 16 and 6. In two innings, Gardner has only scored 22 runs and claimed one wicket.
The victory of the UP Warriorz over the Mumbai Indians could serve as motivation for the Gujarat Giants, according to Reema Malhotra:
Beth Mooney has to make better use of her resources, Malhotra said. The GG captain, she pointed out, did not deploy Tanuja Kanwar well with either bat or ball in their previous game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, despite not bowling Ashleigh Gardner at the beginning of the match against Smriti Mandhana.
