In New Zealand, there is a domestic competition for men’s Twenty20 cricket called the Men’s Super Smash. Until 2026, it will be known as the Dream11 Super Smash for sponsorship purposes. Since the 2018–19 season, the competition has been held simultaneously with Women’s Super Smash. Super Smash is in its 18th year, making it one of the world’s oldest Twenty20 leagues.
The tournament will feature the usual six teams: Wellington is known as the Firebirds, the Central Districts are known as the Central Stags, Otago is known as the Volts, Canterbury is known as the Kings, and Auckland is known as the Aces. They will play in a double round-robin league until February 6, in which each team plays every other team twice.
The teams ranked second and third will meet in the Elimination Final on February 9. The winner of this match will face the league champion in the final on February 11. Auckland and Wellington have each won the title four times; defending champions Central Districts and Northern Districts, have won three times each; both times in Otago; likewise, once in Canterbury.
