Sunil Gavaskar praises Indian batter for a Centurion knock
Rahul Dravid’s tenacious half-century boosted India on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test against South Africa, after the opponents lost their first three wickets for only 24 runs.
Batting in the middle part of the order, the right-hander hit 10 fours and two sixes to help India reach 208/8 after 59 overs.
In response to Rahul’s valiant effort, Gavaskar stated that the batter “finally appears to be delivering to potential.”
The 74-year-old went on to say that the Indian batter’s consistency with the willow over the previous few months has made him “undroppable” across forms.
Rahul scored a brilliant 111 off 106 balls in the Asia Cup game vs Pakistan in Colombo, capping off a remarkable comeback from injury.

Gavaskar also believes his time out of the match due to illness has reignited the 31-year-old’s enthusiasm.
He added that Rahul used to appear disoriented, but that hasn’t been happening since his return. Rahul will bat again on Day 2 in Centurion, with Mohammed Siraj joining him. He’ll be hoping to push India’s total above 250 runs.
Ravi Shastri, former India’s head coach was also impressed with Rahul’s performance, calling it “pretty amazing.”

“He makes batting look easy.” It was very incredible to watch his footwork and balance. The knock also demonstrates that the number is appropriate for him in Test match cricket.
“I think he’ll get lots of runs in the middle of the order for India,” Shastri remarked on radio.
