India won by seven wickets immediately after midday on Day 2 in the shortest completed Test in terms of balls bowled.
The first day saw an astonishing 23 wickets fall. With both sides’ pacers reveling in the exaggerated seam movement and irregular bounce.
Gavaskar told Star Sports that he had no complaints about the Cape Town track. But he questioned the SENA media over their criticism of Indian rank turners.
Indian pacers Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah took seven and eight wickets, respectively, to limit South Africa to 55 and 176 runs.
The visitors struggled as well, being knocked out for 153 in their first innings. However, in the final innings, they chased down the total of 79, losing only three wickets to tie the series 1-1.
“Our media should be writing about this”
Sunil Gavaskar believes that Indian media should attack pitches like the one in Cape Town in the same way.
However, he believes that in order to obtain player interviews while not offending other countries, the Indian media should avoid from making such remarks.
In his post-match news conference, Indian captain Rohit Sharma requested foreign journalists not to moan about home pitches.
