On Day 2 of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia at The Oval, Mohammed Siraj caused a stir when he threw the ball in Steve Smith’s direction in an odd incident.
Smith reached his century with two boundaries off the pacer’s bowling after starting the day with a score of 95. Due to a problem with the spider cam.
Smith moved away from the stumps just before the fourth ball of the over was bowled, but Siraj went ahead and threw the ball straight.
Sunil Gavaskar, the former captain of India, voiced his displeasure with the incident during commentary.
Ravi Shastri, the former head coach of India, also supported Smith’s position, stating that Smith had “every right” to leave the field before the delivery was bowled.
“Steve Smith is simply stepping back. Smith had every right to move out of the way, but it did not please Siraj.
It’s more about being angry that Siraj was pushed two boundaries. While discussing the incident, Shastri stated, “He got sounded off by Rohit Sharma the previous ball.”
