Star of the Denver Nuggets Nikola Jokic has agreed to a five-year, 270 million dollar agreement, according to agents. According to his agents Jeff Schwartz and Mike Lindeman of Excel Sports, Nikola Jokic, a top player for the Denver Nuggets, has agreed to the richest contract in NBA history, a five-year, $270 million supermax agreement, they informed ESPN on Friday. The Nuggets have now agreed to a six-season, $303 million contract with Jokic, the two-time reigning Most Valuable Player.

The agreement includes a trade kicker and a player option. The contract will begin in 2023–24 at $46.6 million and increase every season until 2027–28 when Jokic is expected to earn $61.5 million.

Jokic, a second-round draft pick, has developed into one of the most unlikely powers in the history of the sport, a great talent who has won back-to-back league MVP titles.

Jokic27, kicked off center Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers to win the league’s top individual award for the second consecutive season, making him the 10th player to win the award in back-to-back seasons. Jokic averaged 27.1points, 13.8 rebounds, and 7.9 assists in 74 games for the Nuggets last season.

He received his first MVP award following the 2021 campaign, which made him perfect for the supermax and allowed him to end his prime in Denver. A player is eligible for the supermax if they are named to an All-NBA team, earn Defensive Player of the Year in either the most recent or the two last seasons, or win the league MVP in the last three seasons.

Jokic, a 6-foot-11 point guard for Denver, is probably the best man in the history of the game. He has been selected to the All-Star team four times and has been named to the NBA All-NBA team three times.

The NBA Draft of 2014 saw Jokic go with the number 41 overall pick. In Serbia’s Sombor, he was born. He entered the league the following year and quickly became an important part of Denver’s plans before becoming an All-Star for the first time during the 2018–19 season.

Denver’s rise in the Western Conference standings and four consecutive seasons in the postseason, which included a trip to the 2020 Western Conference Finals at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, which is on the verge of joining the NBA, coincided with Jokic’s upgrade to All-Star status over the last four seasons.

Jokic and Denver will attempt to reach the NBA Finals for the first time ever after the regular season is complete. He will probably be joined on the floor by Jamal Murray, who missed the season before due to an ACL tear sustained in the spring of 2021, and Michael Porter Jr., who missed most of the last season due to back surgery.

Because Murray missed both of those postseasons, Denver fell to the Phoenix Suns in the 2021 second round and the eventual champion Golden State Warriors in the 2018 first round. Denver began restructuring its club this week by trading guards Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Ish Smith to the Washington Wizards in return for guards Monte Morris and Will Barton. Caldwell-Pope, a 3-and-D wing, may start for Denver beside Murray in the backcourt.
