Stanley Cup winners: Complete list of all 105 NHL champions
Every young hockey player has the secret hope that they will one day be able to hoist the Stanley Cup over their heads and stride it about in front of a crowd of delighted supporters. Recently, the Avalanche had the opportunity to get this experience. The first step on this year’s path to hoisting the trophy was taken on May 2nd. There were a total of 16 teams competing for the opportunity to have their names etched into the annals of history. The Colorado Avalanche, led by Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog, and Cale Makar, defeated the Lightning, who had won the Stanley Cup the previous two years in a row, to claim the title of winners of the 2022 tournament and take home the trophy.
But which squad was able to hoist the trophy the most times? Let’s take a look at the teams who have won the most Stanley Cup overall, as well as each individual team that has won the Stanley Cup.
Winners of the Stanley-Cup: Yearwise
This season, the Lightning was competing for a trifecta since they had already won the Stanley Cup in both 2020 and 2021. It would have been the Penguins’ third Stanley Cup victory in the last seven years if they had been victorious this year. Rather, in 2016 and 2017, the franchise saw a comeback.
