Sports ground for the National Games tournament will be finalized soon: The ground for the 9th National Games tournament is going to be finalized soon. The preparations for the game’s tournament have been started for the coming October 14 to 20. The Gandaki Province has started their much-anticipated preparations for the game’s tournament.
Committees are formed by National Sports Council
Many committees are formed by the National Sports Council for the preparation of National game tournaments. National Sports Council is the main agency that is responsible for conducting the national game and Gandaki Sports Council has stepped up its preparations for the national sport.
Currently, the committees have in selecting the sports grounds, players, and training to carry out. National Sports Council management has made an on-site inspection to know about the district sports infrastructure and facilities.
The tournament is going to be held from October 14 to October 20 in Pokhara and Pokhara stadium. Gandaki province will be hosting the tournament.
The National Sports Council committee has decided each district will have at least one event. This has increased the ownership of National sports in the 11 districts of the province.
Vice-Chairperson of Sub-Committee, Rajesh Gurung said ” the tournament taking place in Pokhara after four decades has made the province residents elated with the news.
He further said that the decision on sports grounds would be made by August 31.
The decision will be made keeping in mind a few things. Such as the status of residential facilities, transport, security situation, and hospitals in the proposed districts with sports infrastructure.
He further added “We have taken stock and report of the sports infrastructure available in districts of the Gandaki province. We are making all the necessary preparations for finalizing the sports ground for this tournament”.
The sub-committee has also made a plan to Combine the private and government infrastructure. they will use the sports infrastructures of the private sector rather than being limited to the government infrastructures.
The National Sports Council has already decided to conduct 38 games which include 36 national sports and two demonstrations.
The games include the Men’s football tournament. Men’s and women’s sports events of athletics, weight lifting, boxing, volleyball, wushu, badminton, handball, squash, shooting, and hockey, are to be held in Pokhara.
Other sports events to be held under the men’s and women’s categories are gymnastics, soft tennis, lawn tennis, cricket, archery, cycling, swimming, physical fitness, gulf, paragliding, and triathlon.
Among other sports grounds – Waling of Syangja for women’s football, Lamjung for Karate (men’s and women’s), Baglung for Taekwondo (men’s and women’s), Mustang for Table Tennis (men’s and women’s), Kusti and Khoko (men’s and women’s) Nawalpur for Kabaddi, Gorkha for Judo and Sepakata (men’s and women’s). A duet folk song competition will also be held in Pokhara.
