Sports arena property: Mayor Gloria wants midway rising to redevelop. On Monday San Diego mayor Todd Gloria presented his preferred re-development plan for the city’s sports Arena property. 

Midway rising has ranked among the top five contenders when City staff updated the City Council on project the. Therefore, the announcement was not surprising after this update. The officials give the credit to the development team for offering the lowest income-affordable housing for people which the State Law requires for developing public land. 

Gloria made a public statement about the redevelopment plan 

San Diego Mayor Todd in a statement said ” After the transparent process in coordination with the state regulations. I am very confident about the Midway rising that they will deliver my vision of creating thousands of new affordable. And Middle-income homes, a new world-class Arena, an entertainment district, and good-paying local jobs. This project represents the big city energy and I am looking forward to getting this done from the Midway rising community and our city.” 

The Midway rising will build around 4000 to 50 apartments.  Out of which 2000 will be restricted rental affordable for low-income and 250 would be affordable for the middle-income household.  While the remaining 2000 would charge the market price. The redevelopment plan also included a new Arena which has the capacity for up to 165 00 people. 

It has 2,50000 square feet of retail space and 20 acres of parks and open space. The mayor will be presenting his re-development recommendation to the council’s land use and Housing committee on 8th September. Which is followed by full counting of the vote on 13 September. 

He also pledged to release all the supporting documents of the reading development plan by Friday. The key details about the project are yet to be determined; these include how much revenue the city will generate,  how much affordable housing will be financed, what kind of jobs will sports Arena develop, etc.
