David Warner shocked everybody by changing his position to bat like a right-given player during MI’s match against DC in the IPL 2023.
On matchday 16 of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), veteran Australian opener David Warner batted right-handed against Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Hrithik Shokeen in the seventh over of DC’s innings.
Warner has maintained a relatively low strike rate in the current edition of the cash-rich league while leading the Delhi Capitals team in the absence of superstar Rishabh Pant.
Warner surprised everyone by changing his stance after a no-ball when he faced MI’s Shokeen after the first powerplay had ended.
Warner batted with his right hand in an effort to capitalize on a free hit, but the DC skipper was unable to make an impact.
The Australian southpaw, who bats with his right hand, only stole one run from the free-hit. Netizens criticized Australian opener Warner for his ill-timed shot against the MI bowler.
It’s interesting to note that DC skipper Warner is not the first batter to alter his batting position during a game.
Previous Britain captain Joe Root, Indian center request player Hanuma Vihari and amazing hitter Sunil Gavaskar have exchanged their watchmen while batting before.
Talking about the exciting match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023, the Australian superstar Warner played a crucial role for the team without Pant after Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked the hosts to bat first.
