The Indian team competed in divisional competitions in 14 of the 16 sports.
Special Olympics World Games: Indian Delegation is Off To a Terrific Start in Several Sports: The swimming competition saw the day’s most impressive performances, with 11 out of 12 Indian swimmers making it to the semifinals in the 25-meter freestyle, 25-meter breaststroke, and 50-meter breaststroke events. In addition, four Indian athletes advanced to the athletic semifinals.
Both the Indian men’s and women’s soccer teams participated in the group stage of 7-a-side games. The women’s squad narrowly defeated SO Israel while the men’s team managed to tie with Saint Lucia.
The creation of the Global Leadership Coalition for Inclusion, a trailblazing multinational initiative to empower those with intellectual impairments, was announced by Special Olympics earlier in the day. Governments, businesses, philanthropy, and development communities for the longest time.
Members of the Coalition have committed to providing more than 2,000,000 young people with inclusive sports and educational opportunities in more than 150,000 schools over the course of the next three years, as well as expanding Special Olympics programming to 180 nations.
