Due to injuries he sustained in a road accident last month, Rishabh Pant will not participate in the lucrative Indian Premier League, according to a report.
According to Sourav Ganguly, a former head of the national cricket board, Rishabh Pant of India will not participate in the lucrative Indian Premier League because he was injured in a road accident last month. When he crashed his Mercedes SUV north of New Delhi before dawn on December 30, the India star suffered multiple injuries. A bus driver and conductor rushed to his aid when the car caught fire. During the annual two-month tournament, which features some of the most prominent international players and is scheduled to begin in late March or early April, Pant serves as captain of the Delhi Capitals team.
Sports Today reports that Ganguly, who is expected to join Delhi Capitals as director of cricket, stated that “Rishabh Pant will not be available for the IPL.”
Ganguly stated on Tuesday, “It will be a great IPL (for the team), we will do well, but Rishabh Pant’s injury will affect the Delhi Capitals.”
The 25-year-old was swiftly transported to the hospital, where he remained for a few days before being transported by air to Mumbai for further treatment and surgery.
According to the Indian Cricket Board, Pant cut his back, broke bones in his wrist and ankle, and fractured a ligament in his right knee.
For the past three years, Pant has been a regular member of the India Test team. Some of the biggest victories have been largely attributable to him. He is a flashy wicketkeeper and batsman.
However, over the course of the past few months, his white-ball performance has been subpar, and just a few days prior to the accident, he was removed from Sri Lanka’s squads for the upcoming Twenty20 and one-day international matches.
Also, Pant probably won’t be able to play in any of the four Test matches that Australia and India will play in India during their tour in February and March. Pant will probably leave the team.
