Sophie Ecclestone Biography
Sophie Ecclestone is an English cricketer who was born on May 6, 1999. She plays for the England women’s team and the Manchester Originals. She bats with her right hand and is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. She majorly contributes to the England cricket team with the ball. She is known for her impeccable stats with regard to economy and accuracy. Sophie Ecclestone was only 20 years old when the International Cricket Council (ICC) named her the best T20I bowler in the world. This was after three years of great performances in the format.
Achievements
Ecclestone learned how to play cricket at the Alvanley Cricket Club in Helsby, Cheshire, which is on the south side of the River Mersey. She had been playing for Cheshire since 2013 when Lancashire spotted her. She signed with them in 2015 and made her debut in Division 1 of the Women’s County Championship against Nottinghamshire when she was 16 years old.
In 2016, Sophie Ecclestone did well for the England academy in a tri-series with Sri Lanka A and Australia’s Shooting Stars in Sri Lanka. She took 16 wickets on that tour, including a four-wicket haul against Sri Lanka A in Panagoda. In 2018, her bowling was very hard to hit in the World T20 in the Caribbean. She gave up only 5.38 runs per over, which helped England get to the final after a great season with Lancashire Thunder in the Kia Super League. In one-day internationals (ODIs), she was incredibly thrifty, rarely giving up more than four runs per over as teams started to play her out.
At the end of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in March 2020, she was the best Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) bowler in the world. Ecclestone won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for June 2021 in July 2021.
Growing Up
Ecclestone was born in Chester, in the county of Cheshire, and grew up in the village of Helsby, also in Cheshire. Since she was a young child, she, her older brother James, and her father Paul would play cricket or football every day outside their home. As a result, she has been good at cricket since she was a child. Additionally, Ecclestone thinks that her brother James, who taught her how to play both football and cricket, has had the most impact on her career. Ecclestone went to Helsby High School and began playing for the Cheshire women’s county team in 2013.
Sophie Ecclestone’s Personal Life
