The IPL media rights for the next five years are open now for bidding. BCCI will be confirming the purchase of the Invitation to Tender (ITT) document for the global bidders.
The firms to be bidding for the broadcasting rights are Sky Sports in the United Kingdom and SuperSport in South Africa.
The ITT will be available for purchase till May 10, 2022. The confirmed parties that will be taking up the ITT documents for the price of Rs 25 lakhs which is non-refundable are listed here.
The confirmed parties are Star India Pvt Ltd, Viacom 18 Media Private Limited, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited, Amazon Seller Services Pvt Ltd, Sony Pictures Networks India Private Limited, Sporta Technologies Pvt Ltd (Dream 11), Supersport International Pty Ltd and Sky UK Ltd. Sky Sports and SuperSport to Bid For IPL Global Rights?
The other parties who are set to be taking part in the bidding are Netflix, Apple, Airtel, and Facebook. However, the confirmation is yet pending for them. The packages will be going for sale on June 12.
While speaking to one of the leading sports news portals a senior BCCI official speaks. He states, “Yes, Sky and Supersport have bought bid documents but that’s the case with a lot of companies which want to study the bid and Rs 25 lakhs isn’t much for them.”
“But yes, IPL has such value that these biggies might be tempted to test the waters”. The bid document is available for buying till May 10, 2022.
