Indian players have made a mixed start in the Singapore Open badminton tournament. Indian stars PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, and HS Prannoy have started with a win in this championship being played from July 12 to 17. While Kidambi Srikanth had to get a reversal in the first round. P Kashyap also lost his match. Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu, Mithun Manjunath, and Asmita won the first round on Wednesday. The 24-year-old Indian shuttler Manjunath made an aggressive start to lead 6-2. Manjunath easily won the first game. Kidambi then made a brilliant comeback from excellent court coverage to take an 11-8 lead till the break.
He took advantage of the lead and won the game to level the match. Both the players fought hard in the deciding game. Manjunath showed better control and took a little marginal 11-10 lead till the break. But Kidambi Srikanth reduced the score to 16-15. Then Manjunath again turns the game and won the match after scoring 18-18 with 3 consecutive points.
Easy start for PV Sindhu
In the women’s singles match, world number-7 Indian legend PV Sindhu made an easy victory over world number 36 Liane Tan of Belgium. PV defeated her 21-15, and 21-11 in straight games. Former world champion PV will next take on Thuy Lin Nguyen of Vietnam. Similarly, In other women’s singles matches, Saina Nehwal beat Hi Bing Jiao 21-9, and 23-21. While Asmita beat Han Yi 21-16, 21-11.
Kidambi lost against our Indian player
India’s Manjunath beat world No. 11 Srikanth in the tournament. Kidambi Srikant got a place in the final of the Orleans Masters Super 100 tournament in April. But he defeated India’s Manjunath by set scores 21-17, 15-21, 21-18 in an hour. The Indian player, World No. 77 Manjunath will next take on Ireland’s Enhat Nguyen.
