Simona Halep’s domination in the Wimbledon 2022 continues. Simona defeated American Amanda Anisimova in the quarter-final on July 6 2022, Wednesday. The match was expected to be a close encounter since both are incredible players, but Simona managed to crush it without any hassle. The Romanians won the quarterfinals with sets 6-2, 6-4 making it an easy win.
Generally, there are matchups in all forms of competition. However, in team sports, it’s possible to alter how the battle will flow by moving the players in different ways. But, in individual sports such as tennis players have to rely highly on their skill set and execute on the match day.
Simona clearly dominated Amanda throughout the match
Amanda has one of the best women’s strikers with more pace, especially off a backhand, but Simona’s court coverage skills are great. The skills clearly outshined Amanda.
The 3 time Grand slam champion managed to save 7 out of 8 breakpoints that she faced on the serve. The highlight of the match was when the game was going 0-40 and she won the last 5 straight points of her final service.
This quarterfinal victory added to the match-winning streak of Simona which now reached 12 winning streaks. During the 2019 Grand Slam, when she won the championship, she had a 9-match winning streak. It was the best match-winning after Serena Williams in 2015 and 2018 when she had won 20 matches.

Simona is one of the leading contenders for the Grand slam this year, many fans reacted on Twitter after she herself tweeted ” Joyed to be in the semifinals of Wimbledon.
A Twitter user Glen hill replied to her tweet saying ” terrific yet again, another defeat, so happy for you, keep it going.”
While fans were overjoyed and sent Simona wishes for her semi-finals.
After the defeat, Amanda said” I don’t really like not playing to the fullest of my abilities, especially in such a packed stadium. It was disappointing, so I was very upset.
While Halep, on the other hand, says” it was not easy at all because I feel she was playing without thinking like she had nothing to lose. Every hit was hard.”
She further added, talking about Elena Rybakina” I know she is a hard hitter. I have played against her a few times, she would have a lot of confidence being in the semi-finals.”
