ST JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC) – Unbelievable left-hander Shivnarine Chanderpaul has turned into the most recent West Indies player to be drafted into the Worldwide Cricket Chamber (ICC) Corridor of Distinction.
Late Monday, the 48-year-old was named by the ICC as inductee 107 and was joined by notorious Pakistan leg-spinner Abdul Qadir and Britain’s multi-time World Cup-winning chief Charlotte Edwards.
A previous West Indies skipper, Chanderpaul pillaged 11,867 runs from 164 Tests with 30 hundred at a normal of 51.37. In One-Day Internationals, he assembled 8,778 runs from 268 coordinates with 11 centuries at a normal of 41.60.
Chanderpaul is second on the unsurpassed West Indies run-scoring list in Tests and is one of only two players – alongside Brian Lara – with north of 10,000 runs. The Guyanese lie third on the ODI run-scoring graphs behind Chris Gayle and Lara.
Shiv worked hard to improve and at each stage had the option to re-design his game to fulfill the needs. We show respect for Shiv for his colossal commitment to West Indies cricket and world cricket,” the CWI president expressed.
ICC CEO, Geoff Allardice said Chanderpaul, alongside Edwards and Qadir, were perfect “diplomats” of the game.
These three representatives of our incredible game appreciated colossal accomplishment on the worldwide stage and are luxuriously meriting their status as ICC Lobby of Famers,” Allardice said.
“It’s an astonishing distinction to follow the strides of numerous legends and thus numerous other extraordinary cricketers of the past,” said Chanderpaul, who played his last game for West Indies a long time back.
“I’m grateful for the affirmation and should participate in the second with family, partners and specifically the West Indies cricket unendingly fans all around the planet who enthusiastically maintained me all through my calling,” he added.
Cricket West Indies, on Tuesday, hailed Chanderpaul as “the person for all seasons”, focusing that his “responsibility and flexibility” had been two of the characteristics behind his exceptional vocation.
