Shaun Pollock examined RR’s loss versus GT in their IPL 2023 match and was left completely ‘astounded’ by Sanju Samson’s strategies.
In Match 48 of the IPL 2023, Rajasthan Royals fell hard against Gujarat Titans, losing by nine wickets in Jaipur on Friday.
GT reached 119/1 in 13.5 overs, chasing 119 runs, thanks to Wriddhiman Saha’s unbeaten 41 runs off 34 balls. Captain Hardik Pandya, on the other hand, struck a quick, unbeaten 39 off 15 deliveries.
Yuzvendra Chahal was able to dismiss the RR bowlers despite their poor performance.
At first, RR captain Sanju Samson chose to bat after winning the toss.
However, in a shocking turn of events, RR’s batting collapsed, and they were bowled out for 118 in 17.5 overs. Samson made the only significant hit, scoring 30 runs off of 20 balls.
For GT’s bowling division, Rashid Khan was in a searing structure and scalped three wickets. In the meantime, the visitors’ Noor Ahmad took two wickets.
Shaun Pollock, a former cricketer for South Africa, revealed to Cricbuzz that he was surprised by the strategies used by RR captain Samson, particularly his use of spinners.
I was somewhat shocked by a portion of the strategies utilized there. You realized that it wasn’t really swinging after one or two overs.
It was a bit of a surprise, he said, because they were late getting to the spinners to check if they might have had an effect.
Pollock continued by saying that GT’s ease in achieving the target proved Rajasthan’s batting performance had practically disintegrated. He claimed that the situation had little to do with the batting meltdown.
With 14 points from 10 matches, Gujarat remained at the top of the IPL 2023 points table following the victory. R, on the other hand, sit fourth with 10 points from 10 games.
