Shahid Afridi laments Haris Rauf’s decision to withdraw from the AUS-PAK Test series
Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi believes Haris Rauf should’ve played in the next Test series in Australia instead of the country’s Big Bash League (BBL).
Given the conditions in Australia, the previous all-rounder feels the fast bowler would have preferred to use the red ball.
Rauf was initially named to the Test team for the important three-match series. But he dropped out, infuriating senior selection Wahab Riaz.
The 30-year-old made his Test debut against England in December 2022, he only picked up one wicket and bowled once in the first inning of the game.
Former head selector Shahid Afridi told the media at the MCG that Rauf would have found enough of purchasing on Australian surfaces for Tests.

Rauf, is now playing for the Melbourne Stars in the BBL, has been putting up great performances. The right-arm speedster has six scalps at an average of 16 in four outings.
Shahid Afridi’s- “I’ve never got the impression that Shaheen has an injury”
Shahid Afridi added that Shaheen Shah Afridi is not hurt, dismissing any concerns over the slow start. However, the 46-year-old said that quick bowlers are under a lot of pressure.
Pakistan now trail the three-match series 1-0, with the next Test at the MCG on the line.
