In Karachi, Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Afridi married former captain Shahid Afridi’s daughter Ansha. Local media reported that Shaheen’s Pakistan teammates attended a reception afterward.
The couple had their mehendi on Thursday. Two years ago, they got engaged. This year, Afridi is the third Pakistani celebrity to wed.
In January, Shadab Khan and fellow fast bowler Haris Rauf tied the knot. Shadab was one of the guests who were captured on camera at Shaheen’s reception.
Together with Pakistan’s Babar Azam, former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, fast bowler Naseem Shah, and former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez.
In an April 2018 Twenty20 International against the West Indies in Karachi, Shaheen made his debut for Pakistan. Since then, he has played in 25 Tests, 32 One-Day Internationals, and 47 Twenty20 Internationals, and he is widely considered to be one of the best fast bowlers in the world.
The 22-year-old has taken 99 Test wickets, 62 ODI wickets, and 58 T20I wickets. In the beginning of this month, the Pakistan Cricket Board stated that Afridi had resumed his rehabilitation with the team’s medical personnel in Karachi.
During Pakistan’s Test series against Sri Lanka in July, Afridi has been experiencing knee pain. He was ruled out of the Asia Cup, but the team took him on the trip.
There were claims that the PCB handled the injury improperly. He ended up playing in the T20 World Cup, where he seemed to be in his best form, and he helped Pakistan advance to the final and then the knockout stages.
However, in the 13th over of the England chase, he took a catch and ended up hurting himself. He briefly left the field before returning to bowl the 16th over. He was only able to bowl one ball at the end before limping off.
